Abysse, a deeper look into ocean commitment through conscious brands.

Abysse was born out of a desire and dream to create a brand whose main purpose was to align women with ideals of function and sustainable fashion.

Growing up in a third world country, with 7,000 km of coastline on the East side of the South American continent, I had the opportunity to explore the Atlantic Ocean in various ways, but also watch it become a place for people to dispose of what no longer serves them.

From fear to fascination, the ocean and its citizens have always had a big impact on my well -being. Afterall, that’s where all life started!

And it’s home to the most fascinating creatures. From minuscule, non-complex life forms, to the largest animal that has ever inhabited our planet.

Both, and everything else in between, need a space and healthy ecosystem to live on.

Ever since I understood this need, I realized that a range of small choices that individuals make every day, can create a massive ripple effect that will dictate the health and integrity of our oceans.

Being a waterwoman, I also acknowledge the need to be comfortable when in the water. Either to explore, work, enjoy and, mostly, connect with it.

In early 2020, just before embarking on a life-changing trip, where a group of mindful and passionate salty folks got together to expose the beauties, complexities and threats that coral reefs are exposed to, I had the privilege to become an ambassador for a brand that I believe has found the perfect formula to attend and include all water women’s needs, co-creating carefully designed and crafted pieces, producing the bare minimum footprint in the ocean’s health.

Abysse was born out of a desire and dream to create a brand whose main purpose was to align women with ideals of function and sustainable fashion.

The core Ethos of Abysse is to align fashion with function.

Being a conscious manufacturer means to take back power and support what Abysse stands for, in an ever-growing fast fashion industry.

Their goal is to create products that feel great, look great and function great, all the while empowering women to reach their highest potential in and out of the water.

With the vision and idea that “Sustainability should not be a marketing tool, it should be a requirement.”, Abysse has not only created a brand, but most definitely started a culture - of mindful self-care, and the care for the Planet.

For a world with more inspiring projects like Abysse.

Made for women, by women, with our perfect imperfections” – Hanalei (Co-founder and owner at Abysse)
